What converts, and how it looks in Word
Every element is written with a Word style, so you can restyle the whole document in Word afterward.
- Headings (
#to######, or underlined with===and---): Word's Heading 1 to Heading 6, so they show in the navigation pane and a table of contents. - Bold, italic and strikethrough:
**bold**,*italic*,~~struck~~. - Lists: bulleted and numbered, nested, keeping the number a list starts at.
- Tables: GitHub-style tables with column alignment; the header row is bold and repeats on each page.
- Links: web links, email links and bare URLs become clickable; links to a heading in the same file jump to it.
- Code: inline code and fenced or indented code blocks in a monospace style.
- Quotes and horizontal rules.
- Images: images written into the file as data URLs are embedded. Images that point to a web address or a file on your computer can't be fetched, so their alt text is kept with a link to the original.
- Front matter: a
title:line at the top sets the document title.
What it leaves out
Raw HTML is shown as text, not run. Footnotes, task-list checkboxes and math aren't converted.
If it doesn't work
- A list or table shows up as plain text: check that it has a blank line before it, and that table rows all have the same number of
|columns. - Images are missing: see the note on images above. Insert them in Word, or convert from a file that embeds them.

Yes. There is no account and no limit on how many files you convert.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, and the Word file is created there too.
Can I change the fonts and colors?
Yes. Every element uses a Word style (Heading 1, Quote, Code and so on), so changing a style in Word changes it everywhere.
Does it work with Google Docs?
Yes. Upload the downloaded .docx to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs.
